Frequently Asked Questions
How do I grant notification access permission?
To use Permly, you need to grant Notification Access permission:
- Open the Permly app
- Tap "Grant Permission" on the welcome screen
- Find "Permly" in the list and toggle it on
- Confirm when prompted
Alternatively, go to: Settings → Apps → Special app access → Notification access → Permly
Why aren't notifications being blocked?
If notifications aren't being blocked, check:
- Permission granted: Ensure Notification Access is enabled in Android Settings
- Profile is active: Make sure the profile is toggled ON (green)
- App is added to profile: Verify the app you want to mute is added to the active profile
- Service is running: Try toggling the profile off and on again
- Device restart: Some devices require a restart after granting permission
If issues persist, please contact support with your device model and Android version.
Can I schedule profiles to activate automatically?
Yes! Profile scheduling is a Pro feature that lets you set start and end times for each profile so it activates automatically — for example, enabling your Work profile every weekday from 9 AM to 5 PM.
To set up a schedule, open a profile, tap the schedule section, and configure your days and times. You can also manually toggle a profile at any time regardless of its schedule.
What's the difference between Free and Pro?
| Feature | Free | Pro |

| Profiles | Up to 3 | Unlimited |
| Apps per profile | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Statistics | Last 7 days | Full history |
| Profile scheduling | ✗ | ✓ |
| Quick Settings | ✓ | ✓ |

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
To cancel your Permly Pro subscription:
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions
- Find "Permly Pro" and tap it
- Tap "Cancel subscription" and follow the prompts
You'll retain Pro access until the end of your current billing period. No refunds for partial periods.
For refund inquiries, see our Refund Policy.
Does Permly read my notifications?
No. Permly only reads the package name (app identifier) of incoming notifications to determine whether to block them. We never read notification content, messages, or any personal data.
All data stays on your device. Nothing is sent to servers or shared with third parties.
Read our Privacy Policy for details.
Which Android versions are supported?
Permly requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. This is because the Notification Listener API functionality we rely on was introduced in API level 26.
We test on Android versions 8.0 through 15 (latest).
Why does my battery drain faster?
Permly is designed to be lightweight and should have minimal battery impact. The notification service runs efficiently in the background.
If you notice unusual battery drain:
- Check if battery optimization is enabled for Permly (Settings → Apps → Permly → Battery)
- Ensure you're running the latest version
- Try restarting your device
- Contact support if the issue persists
Can I use Permly on multiple devices?
Yes! If you have Permly Pro, your subscription is tied to your Google Play account and works on all your Android devices.
However, profiles are stored locally and don't sync between devices. Profile sync is a planned future feature.
How do I use the Quick Settings tile?
The Quick Settings tile lets you toggle profiles without opening the app:
- Swipe down from the top of your screen to open Quick Settings
- Tap the edit/pencil icon
- Find "Permly" and drag it to your active tiles
- Tap "Done"
Now you can tap the Permly tile to quickly enable/disable your last active profile.

Data Deletion Instructions
All Permly data is stored locally on your device. To delete your data:
- Delete specific profiles: Open Permly → tap a profile → Delete button
- Clear all app data: Settings → Apps → Permly → Storage → Clear Data
- Complete removal: Uninstall the app (Settings → Apps → Permly → Uninstall)
Since we don't collect or store data on our servers, there's nothing to request deletion of remotely. All data is deleted when you uninstall the app.
