Introduction
Permly ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application Permly handles information when you use our notification management service.
Information We Access
Notification Access Permission
Permly requires the Android Notification Access permission to function. This permission allows the app to:
- Detect incoming notifications — We only read the package name (app identifier) of incoming notifications to determine if they should be blocked based on your profile settings.
- Cancel notifications — When a notification comes from an app you've muted in an active profile, Permly cancels that notification before it's displayed.
What We DO NOT Access
- Notification content — We never read, store, or process the actual text, images, or data within your notifications.
- Personal messages — We cannot and do not read your messages, emails, or any communication content.
- Sensitive data — We do not access contacts, location, camera, microphone, files, or any other sensitive device data.
Data Storage
All data created by Permly is stored locally on your device:
- Profiles — Your custom notification profiles (names, descriptions, colors)
- Muted Apps — The list of apps you've added to each profile
- Statistics — Counts of blocked notifications (optional feature)
- Preferences — Your app settings and onboarding status
Data Sharing
The Permly Android app does not share any data with third parties. Period.
- No advertising networks
- No crash reporting services
- No cloud storage
- No external APIs
This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate page traffic — but only if you explicitly accept cookies in the consent banner. If you decline, no analytics data is collected and no third-party network requests are made. See the Cookie Policy section below for full details.
Data Security
Your data is protected by:
- Android's application sandboxing (other apps cannot access Permly's data)
- Your device's built-in security features (screen lock, encryption)
- Local-only storage with no network transmission
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until:
- You delete specific profiles or muted apps within the app
- You clear the app's data through Android Settings
- You uninstall the app
Children's Privacy
Permly does not knowingly collect any information from children under 13 years of age. The app does not collect personal information from any user.
Your Rights
Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:
- Access — View your data directly in the app
- Modify — Edit or update your profiles at any time
- Delete — Remove profiles, muted apps, or clear all data
- Export — Your data belongs to you (may be available in a future update)

Cookie Policy
What is a Cookie?
A cookie is a small text file stored in your browser by a website you visit. Cookies let a site remember your choices so you do not have to re-enter them on every page load.
Cookies We Set
This website sets one first-party cookie to remember your choices:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
permly_prefs |
Stores your site preferences as JSON (currently: whether you have accepted or declined analytics cookies). No personal data is included. | 6 months |
The value stored in permly_prefs looks like this:
{"version": 1, "ga_consent": "granted"}
ga_consent is set to "granted" if you accepted analytics, or "denied" if you declined. The JSON envelope is used so that future preference keys can be added without introducing new cookies.
Third-Party Analytics Cookies (Google Analytics 4)
If you click Accept in the consent banner, Google Analytics 4 is loaded and may set the following cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
_ga |
Distinguishes unique visitors. Used to calculate aggregate statistics about site usage. | 2 years |
_ga_* |
Maintains session state for a specific GA4 property. | 2 years |
No GA4 cookies are set unless you explicitly click Accept. Clicking Decline results in zero google-analytics.com network requests.
Google's privacy policy applies to data collected through GA4: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
How to Manage Your Cookie Preferences
- Change your choice at any time — click the Cookie Settings link in the footer of any page to re-open the consent banner.
- Opt out via Google — install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Browser controls — you can delete or block cookies through your browser settings at any time. Deleting
permly_prefswill reset your consent choice and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
